PATIENT EXPERT CENTER

In 2018, a groundbreaking collaboration was launched at the initiative of ReumaNet, with the aim of building a foundation that connects patient organizations in training patients to become representatives of their patient community during interactions with various healthcare stakeholders. These stakeholders include not only the patients themselves, but also government services, hospitals, industry and other relevant parties.

This initiative resulted in the successful establishment of the Patient Expert Center (PEC) in 2019, an independent non-profit organization that is continuously growing in membership, partners and sponsors. It remains a strongly anchored initiative, embraced as enthusiastically by countless parties involved as at the start of this inspiring process!

Finding alignment between stakeholders who are not used to working together is a challenge. Especially when processes need to be set up that ensure smooth operation, where everything revolves around efficiency, ownership and transparency. This is exactly what we achieved together with Christel in setting up the Patient Expert Center (PEC), then still under the coordination of ReumaNet.

The professional guidance from start to finish ensured a result that was carefully coordinated with all parties involved, including myself as Patient Engagement & Advocacy Manager at the time, where the impact for the patient was noticeable from day one. Thanks to the expertise, a solid foundation has been laid on which we continue to build every day!
